They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.

Give it time. One day. Time cures all wounds. We have many ways of saying that passing time will make everything better. But what is really happening? The world is a constantly changing place. Everyone is making different decisions every second. Over time, those decisions reach you in the form of changes to your environment or the people that are around you. New opportunities, or other opportunities disappearing. When enough changes, it feels like we have moved on.

In truth, if you want something to be different in your life, you have two options. You can wait and hope someone changes it for you, or you can do something about it. As you take more action in your own life, you will start to find more ownership. You will care more and realize that you can do more. With practice you will be able to identify what is worth the energy and simply jump in. If you wait, you’ll likely stay where you are for a long time.

Taking action in your own life doesn’t mean you have to go it alone. Bring people with you. Get help. But it’s on you to start. Pick a direction. Begin.

It may be hard at first. These things take time, and people tend to resist the unknown. If you start doing things differently they may try to stop you. But that should not slow you down. If you need something different in your life, go for it and be persistent. Ask questions and learn how to get there. If you do it in a positive way you will likely inspire others. They will help you make it happen.

So what has been bothering you? What do you always wish could be different? What do you want to change about yourself? Who do you want to be? Pick something and take the first step. Change it. The choice is yours.
